As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2026, a Safai Mitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir, comprising an awareness programme and free medical camp, was organized on 30 September 2026 at the Millennium Hall of CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram. The programme focused on the health, safety and welfare of Safai Mitras and their dependents, in accordance with the SHS action plan.
Dr. P. Murugesan, Nodal Officer, SHS Campaign 2026, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of the health and social welfare of Safai Mitras, including awareness about various welfare and social protection schemes available to them. Dr. G. Byju, Director, ICAR-CTCRI, delivered the presidential address and inaugurated the programme. He briefed the participants on the various activities undertaken under the SHS Campaign 2026 and acknowledged the important role played by Safai Mitras in maintaining cleanliness and in the successful implementation of the campaign at the Institute.
The Medical Officer, in her special address, emphasized the importance of preventive health check-ups, healthy lifestyle practices and yoga for maintaining good health. Subsequently, health check-up was conducted by a medical team headed by Dr. Sicylet, Medical Officer, Government Ayurvedic hospital, Cheruvakkal. Around 100 Safai Mitras and their dependents benefited from the health check-up and received medical advice. Around 150 participants attended the programme.
