Awareness campaign on Soil Health Management & Balanced Use of Fertilizers was organized on 01.05.2026 at Sabarapalli village, R.Udayagiri block and Gajapati district, Odisha. Ninety farmers attended the programme. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Sanjog Sahoo, MD, Mati farm, Cuttack. Mr. Amit Dangi, Technician welcomed the gathering and briefed about the importance of Soil Health Management & Balanced Use of Fertilizers. Dr. S.K. Jata, TO explained about importance of organic farming, use of locally available organic materials and different type of composting in soil fertility management. Dr. R. Arutselvan, Scientist explained about the importance of microorganisms in plant nutrition and plant protection.
Dr. M. Nedunchezhiyan, Principal Scientist & SIC explained importance of organic farming, various tuber crops cultivation and value addition methods. Guest of Honour Mr. Manoj Kumar Mahalik, Assistant Horticultural Officer, R.Udayagiri explained importance of organic farming of horticultural crops. Dr. Sanjog Sahoo, MD, Mati Farm in his chief guest address explained the importance of soil health management and necessity of balanced use of fertilizers.
Dr. R. Arutselvan demonstrated seed treatment of colocasia seed cormels with Trichoderma asperellum for controlling seed borne diseases. Sree Hira seed cormels of taro variety (1 kg/farmer), Vegetable seed kit (1 no/farmer) and Trichoderma asperellum (200 g/farmer) were distributed to the 90 tribal farmers. Farmers were advised to use Trichoderma asperellum for seed treatment for all the horticultural crops. Mr. U. Rajendra Dora, Field co-ordinator, PREM (NGO), Mohana proposed vote of thanks.
