Awareness campaign on Soil Health Management & Balanced Use of Fertilizers was organized on 04.05.2026 at Panchayat Office, Madhupur village & Gram Panchayat, Barang Block, Cuttack District, Odisha.
A total of 28 farmers have participated in the programme. Smt. Sasmita Bhoi, Sarpanch, Madhupur Gram Panchayat has participated as Chief Guest in the programme and Shri. Tapan Sahoo, Naib Sarpanch has participated as Guest of Honour. Shri. B.B. Das, Senior Technical Officer welcomed the gathering and briefed about the importance of Soil Health Management & Balanced Use of Fertilizers. Dr. Kalidas Pati, Senior Scientist has briefed about the importance of judicious use of fertilizers, use of organic manures and biofertilizers and adoption of climate resilient tuber crop varieties with reference to agro-climatic conditions of Odisha.
Team Leader, Dr. K. Laxminarayana has explained the need of soil testing for vegetable crops, cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruit crops; application of soil test based fertilizers to reduce the expenditure on fertilizer cost, balanced fertilizer use, organic farming, enrichment of carbon stock in the soil by green manuring, use of different biofertilizers, need of balanced integrated nutrient management for sustainable crop production, maintenance of soil biological propertiesto achieve higher crop production. Mr. Amit Dangi, Technician Dr. S.K. Jata, TO explained about importance of organic farming, Jeevamrit, beejamrit, Ghanajeevamrit, use of locally available organic materials and different type of composting in soil fertility management.
We have demonstrated seed treatment of colocasia seed cormels with Trichoderma asperellum for controlling seed borne diseases. Also demonstrated the root dipping treatment with Trichoderma asperellum. Then colocasia variety Sree Hira seed cormels (1 kg/farmer), and Trichoderma asperellum (200 g/farmer) were distributed to the 28 farmers. Farmers were advised to use Trichoderma asperellum for seed treatment for all the horticultural crops. Smt. Sasmita Bhoi, Sarpanch, Madhupur G.P., Barang Block, Cuttack District of Odisha thanked the efforts made by ICAR-CTCRI Regional Station, Bhubaneswar for organizing various programmes under MGMG in the Gram Panchayat. The programme was ended by Shri. Tapan Sahoo, Naib Sarpanch by proposing vote of thanks.
