As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign, a “Clean Green Festivities – Post-Event Cleanliness Advocacy Drive” was organised on 25thSeptember 2026 at ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (ICAR-CTCRI), Thiruvananthapuram, in accordance with the date-wise action plan of the campaign.
As part of the programme, Dr. Sheela Immanuel, Principal Scientist, Section of Extension and Social Sciences, ICAR-CTCRI, delivered an awareness talk in the Millennium Hall of the Institute as a tribute to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Ji on his Jayanti, with particular focus on inclusivity and social welfare. The awareness session was followed by a field-based cleanliness and demonstration activity on the Institute campus.
The programme also included a cleanliness and awareness drive on the Institute campus, with emphasis on the composting of flowers and other offering materials and the promotion of zero-waste practices. A practical demonstration on composting of flower waste and zero-waste techniques was conducted for the participants at the vermicompost unit near the dairy farm of ICAR-CTCRI, highlighting sustainable approaches for the utilisation and management of biodegradable waste
Staff members, students, research scholars, project staff, temporary staff and cleaning staff of the Institute actively participated in the programme, contributing to the objectives of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign.
