ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute

On the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, ICAR–CTCRI, observed Swachh Bharat Diwas with renewed commitment to Gandhiji’s vision of cleanliness and dignity.

The programme began with the inauguration of a Cleanliness Target Unit (CTU) and flower tribute to Gandhiji, followed by an inspiring address by our Director, Dr. G. Byju.

Participants took the Swachh Bharat pledge, reaffirming their duty to maintain clean surroundings and responsible waste management.

Highlights included:

Awards & Recognition — outstanding students of the Swachh Bharat Quiz and creative talents from the Waste to Art competition were honoured.

Haritha Karma Sena Award — presented to Mrs. Rema, Cheruvickal, Sreekariyam, for her inspiring waste management initiatives.

Care with Respect — healthcare amenities were distributed to our dedicated cleaning staff, acknowledging their essential service.

Walkathon for Swachhata — symbolising collective action for a cleaner environment.

As we concluded with unity and resolve, we pledged to transform every action into a step towards a Swachh and sustainable Bharat — the best tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
