On the occasion of its 62nd Foundation Day, the ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (ICAR-CTCRI), Thiruvananthapuram, signed three key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing staff welfare and fostering interdisciplinary research collaborations.
The institute signed an MoU with the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST) to jointly develop starch-based therapeutic membranes with extended-release properties for the treatment of oral ulcers, wounds, and lesions. The agreement was exchanged between Dr. G. Byju, Director, ICAR-CTCRI, and Dr. Sanjay Behari, Director, SCTIMST—marking a significant step toward innovative, bio-based healthcare solutions.
In a move to support employee well-being, an MoU was also signed with M/s PRS Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Killipalam, to offer cashless medical treatment for ICAR-CTCRI staff, pensioners, and their dependent family members. The agreement was exchanged between Dr. G. Byju and Shri. Murugan Ratnaswamy, Managing Director, PRS Hospital.
Additionally, the institute entered into a collaborative research agreement with Vedanta Limited to explore the utilization of red mud for soil amelioration and development of red mud area for cultivation at Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh, Odisha.The MoU was formalized by Dr. G. Byju and Ms. Sangita Pramod Sadafule, Associate Vice President, Vedanta Ltd.
These partnerships reflect ICAR-CTCRI’s holistic approach to advancing medical innovation, sustainable agriculture, and staff welfare, reinforcing its position as a leading institute in collaborative research and development.
