M/S., Sugam Organics has signed a technology licensing agreement withICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram on 28th September 2026 to license the technology for producing fried snack food from Cassava. The MoU was signed by Ms. Suganthi A., Proprietor of sugam organics and Dr. G. Byju, Director, ICAR-CTCRI, in the presence of Dr. G. Suja, Principal Scientist & Head, Department of Crop Production; Dr. Manas R. Sahoo, Principal Scientist & Head, Department of Crop Improvement; Dr. M. S. Sajeev, Principal Scientist & Head, Department of Crop Utilization; Dr. Santhosh Mithra, Principal Scientist & Head, Section of Extension & Social Sciences; and Dr. T. Krishnakumar, Scientist & Co-PI, NAIF Comp 2, ICAR–CTCRI.
Tapioca (cassava) is an important tropical tuber crop widely cultivated and consumed as a staple food in several regions. It is an important source of carbohydrates and also contains minerals such as calcium, iron and potassium, along with dietary fibre. The versatility of tapioca makes it suitable for the development of a range of value-added food products.Taking into consideration aboutthe benefits of tuber crops, M/S. Sugam organics prepares tasty and healthy productswithout artificial chemicals or colour.Under the technology licensing agreement, the firm will utilize the ICAR–CTCRI technology for producing fried snack products from tapioca. The company will source the required tubers and undertake the processing and preparation of the products, with a focus on producing products without the addition of artificial colours and unnecessary chemical additives.
