The training programme on ‘Soil, Plant and Water Analysis for Efficient Nutrient Management’ which commenced on 23rd June 2025   was formally inaugurated by Dr. G. Byju, Director ICAR CTCRI, Sreekariyam. In his inaugural address, he emphasised the essentiality of imparting training with an objective to enhance the crop productivity in the era of global climate change. The programme was attended by 19 participants which included Assistant Soil Chemists and Scientific Assistants of Mobile Soil testing Laboratories and the District Soil testing Laboratories from the ten districts of Kerala. Dr. G. Suja, Head,  Division of Crop Production delivered a special lecture on “Crop production technologies for soil health and sustainability”. Dr. Susan John K, Principal Scientist welcomed the gathering.  The participants were imparted training on aspects such as soil and leaf sample collection, their processing, estimation of soil health indicators including physical properties, biological parameters viz., soil enzymes and microbial population, nematode population and soil chemical parameters like soil reaction, organic carbon and all the major, secondary and micronutrients. The above sessions were done as hands on interactive sessions with detailed learning sessions about their principles and procedures of estimation. Advanced instrumentation techniques such as Absorption and Emission Spectrophotometry, electrochemical analysis and Optical Emission Spectrophotometry were dealt during the programme. The training was concluded on 27th June 2025 with the valedictory session being chaired by Dr. T. Makeshkumar, Director (i/c) and Head, Division of Crop protection. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Jeena Mathew, Dr. V.Ramesh and Dr. Susan John K.
