Swachhata Pakhwada-2025
Day-2: 17.12.2025 Swachhata Awareness Day
Today’s aim is mass awareness activity on swachhata theme, conducting swachhata seminars, workshops, training, technology demonstrations and exhibitions on "converting waste to wealth" "safe disposal of all kinds of wastes"
Converting waste to wealth:
In agricultural farming, the availability of crop residues and other waste materials is common. Instead of allowing these materials to go to waste, converting them into useful and enriched farm inputs is considered a best practice in agriculture. This approach not only promotes sustainable farming but also helps increase farmers’ income.
As part of these practices, a vermicomposting unit integrated with a cattle shed has been established, where earthworms are cultured using cow dung and subsequently utilized for the production of vermicompost. A demonstration on vermicomposting was conducted by Dr. G. Suja, Head, Division of Crop Production, in the presence of the Director, ICAR-CTCRI, scientists, office staff, and 25 farmers from Maharashtra.
