Training for Nagaland tribal farmers
ICAR-CTCRI, Sreekariyam, Thiruvananthapuram
The ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram is organising
training on Improved Production and Value Addition Technologies in Tropical Tuber Crops
from 25.8.25 to 27.8.25 at ICAR-CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala to the Nagaland tribal
farmers. The inauguration was held on 25.08.25 at the Millenium Hall of the Institute. The
training was inaugurated by Dr G. Byju, Director, ICAR-CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram. Dr.
R. Muthuraj briefed about the training programme. Dr G Suja, Head, Division of Crop
Production, ICAR-CTCRI, Dr M.S. Sajeev, Principal Scientist, and Dr Sheela Immanuel
Principal Scientist, and Nodal officer, HRD Cell, ICAR-CTCRI also participated. The
training mainly focussed on improved varieties of tropical tuber crops, production
technologies, quality planting material production and pest and disease management in
tropical tuber crops. Field visit is also arranged to the seed villages, and demonstration plots
in Parasala block, Kulathoor Grama panchayat, Kulathoor. In addition to this, farmers will be
given hands on training on value addition in tuber crops at Techno Incubation Centre, ICAR-
CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram. Training kits, including published literature, technical leaflets
and pamphlets were distributed to all the participants.
