TRAINING PROGRAMME ON IMPROVED CASSAVA PRODUCTION, PROCESSING AND VALUE ADDITION
ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram has organized a training programme on Improved production technologies, post- harvest processing and Value Addition in cassava from 22.9.26 to 24.9.26 at ICAR-CTCRI, Sreekariyam, Thiruvananthapuram, Keralam sponsored by Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. Training programme was inaugurated by Dr. G.Byju, Director, ICAR-CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram, Keralam. Dr. G. Suja, Head, Division of Crop Production, ICAR-CTCRI; Dr. M.S.Sajeev, Principal Scientist& SIC, Section of Crop Utilisation, ICAR-CTCRI and Dr. Sheela Immanuel, Principal Scientist &Nodal officer, HRD Cell, ICAR-CTCRI offered felicitations. Dr. R.Muthuraj, Principal Scientist& Course Director, ICAR-CTCRI delivered introductory remarks and welcome address.
The training mainly focused on value addition in tropical tuber crops, hands on practical at Techno Incubation Centre, improved production technologies of tropical tuber crops, quality planting material production of tropical tuber crops, pest and disease management of tropical tuber crops and entrepreneurship development.
Field / lab visits at ICAR-CTCRI and farmers field demonstrations at Chenkal, Parassala block, Thiruvananthapuram district were also organised. Certificate of participation, training kit containing publications, stationary items and value added products from tropical tuber crops were distributed to all the participants.
