ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute

Adv. Shri T. Siddique, Minister for Agriculture, Government of Keralam, inaugurated ‘Gothrajyothi’, a joint initiative of ICAR-CTCRI, ICAR-IISR and MSSRF, Wayanad Centre.

Smt. Usha Vijayan, MLA, Mananthavady, presided over the function. Dr. G. Byju, Director, ICAR-CTCRI, delivered the keynote address, while Dr. C. Thamban, Area Director, MSSRF, delivered the welcome address.

Funded under the TSP of ICAR-CTCRI, the project aims to strengthen tuber crop-based agri-food systems in five panchayats across four blocks of Wayanad, focusing on improving the livelihoods and nutrition security of tribal farming communities.

Technical sessions were conducted by Dr. M. S. Sajeev and Dr. S. S. Veena, Principal Scientists, and Shri B. Satheesan, Technical Assistant, ICAR-CTCRI. An exhibition showcasing tuber crop varieties and technologies was also organised.

Around 350 farmers and other stakeholders participated in the programme.
